Media releases Horizons Takes Gold & Silver Sunday, 4 July 2004 Horizons Golf Resort first year apprentice, Ashley Novotny was awarded “Gold” and second year apprentice, Bowen Weeks awarded “Silver” in the Hunter Training Network and Meat & Livestock Association Apprentice Chef’s Culinary Competition held at Hamilton TAFE last week. Ashley has an opportunity of driving away in a brand new car when he progresses and competes in the Grand Final to be held during the 31st International Catering Trade Fair being held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour from 8 – 11 August 2004. During the local competition Ashley and Bowen were required to prepare an entrée, main and dessert and were judged on personal presentation, work flow, culinary skills, kitchen hygiene and creativity, portion size, nutritional balance, flavours and visual presentation within a three hour time period. Horizons General Manager, Mike Orloff said “This is yet again a reflection of the high standard of staff we have at Horizons Golf Resort and the talent Ashley and Bowen show as up and coming chefs”.
