Media releases Byrnes back on the road again Monday, 16 February 2004 Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes had a one over par round of 74 to finish in tied 13th position in the $10,000 Optus World Coraki Golf Club Pro-Am yesterday held at the 9 hole Coraki Golf Club. Byrnes’ round included five birdies and two bogeys in stifling 42 degree heat conditions amongst a field of 41 professionals. Byrnes said “This is the first event on the ALPG Tour for 2004 and the first time I have played at Coraki. I found the greens grainy compared to Horizons and the conditions were very hot with a strong breeze for the second nine. This was a good lead up to this week’s event at Lakelands Golf Club”. Nicole James (NSW) won after a play off with rookie Lindsey Wright with a score of three under par 70. Joanne Mills (NSW), Rebecca Coakley (SA) and Donna Southam (NSW) tied for third place on two under par 71. Byrnes will next compete in the $100,000 ABC Learning Centres Ladies Classic at Lakelands Golf Club on 20 to 22 February, the ANZ Ladies Masters on 26-29 February, the AAMI Women’s Australian Open being held on 4-7 March and on her home course for the 2004 ALPG Players’ Championship from 11-13 March. |
