Media releases Byrnes Tied 5th at Jack Newton Celebrity Classic Wednesday, 10 December 2003 Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes shot three under par with a round of 70 in the first round of the $50,000 Jack Newton Celebrity Classic being held at Twin Waters Resort. Byrnes played with celebrity chef, Geoff Jansz and started confidently with a bogie on the first hole and continued the game with 5 birdies, 11 pars and one further bogie to finish in tied 5th position. Byrnes said “I played solid all day and was very happy with my putting. I play with Hawthorn’s Captain, Shane Crawford in round two”.
