Media releases Round One Results in BT Ladies Open Friday, 15 August 2003 Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes shot a two over par 74 in round one of the 150,000 pound BT Ladies Open being played at Warrenpoint Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Byrnes teed off the 10th and started with three pars, followed by two bogies on the par four 13th and the par three 14th and found her form to fire three birdies on the 16th, 2nd, and 4th but found difficulty on the par four 5th with a three over par. Byrnes is sitting in tied 48th position in a large group, with the leader Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson shooting a six under par 66. The leading Australian after round one is Alison Munt who shot a two under par 70. Byrnes said “Warrenpoint is an extremely tight golf course and it calls for precision tee shots with sometimes even an iron being required from the tee for safety. The course suits my game and I am certainly looking forward to heading out in round two”. You c |
