CHAMPION trainer Bart Cummings has bright prospects of clinching a Broadmeadow double tomorrow with his only two starters.
His three-year-olds COSMO KING (Ringal Valley Maiden) and YURRAPENDI (Prosperity Salary Packaging Class 1) have undeniable chances on the eight-race program.
COSMO KING has raced twice – both at Canterbury – and started favourite on each occasion.
On March 28 he shared the lead in an 1100m Maiden and was beaten a half-length, then went to the post odds-on at his next outing on April 13 in a similar race and after being caught three wide, sat outside the leader and finished fifth.
That was clearly a stronger field than the one which he opposes here – and this is definitely his chance to break through.
Cummings’ filly YURRAPENDI is well placed over 1600m in the Class 1 Handicap.
The daughter of Pendragon has been crying out for this trip on a big track.
She beat the smart NISSILE at her only Broadmeadow start last October, then sat three wide all the way at Randwick only to go down by a head to another smart performer, INGHAM MAGIC.
At her latest appearance, YURRAPENDI was beaten less than three lengths over 1300m on the Kensington track on Anzac Day.
YURRAPENDI will wear blinkers for the first time, and claiming apprentice Jackson Matthews reduces her 57.5kg by 1.5kg.
Favorite punters should be off to a good start by supporting the Darren Smith-trained RUSHING TO WIN in the opening event, the New England Trading Class 2 Handicap (900m).
RUSHING TO WIN is unbeaten in two starts and her natural speed should carry her to another victory.
RUSHING TO WIN bolted in on debut at Gosford on December 8 and at her only subsequent start, on March 10, just lasted over 1200m at Broadmeadow to dead-heat.
Sydney trainer John O’Shea has an outstanding strike rate at Broadmeadow so far this season – eight winners from only 23 starters – and can improve on that even further by winning the Calvary Mater Newcastle Maiden Plate (1400m) with KING BROWN.
He has not raced since losing narrowly at Randwick on November 1, but won a barrier trial at the same track three weeks ago and is primed for a bold first-up bid.
Hawkesbury six-year-old JUST LIKE ZAC is my other strong fancy at the meeting. He can overcome a wide draw and win the final event, the Benchmark 60 Handicap (1300m).
JUST LIKE ZAC was narrowly beaten first-up at Gosford on Anzac Day and will strip fitter for this assignment.
My selections for the program are:
RACE 1: RUSHING TO WIN, Arkiboum, Miyagi San.
RACE 2: KING BROWN, Rocinante, Certifiable.
RACE 3: BAD DREAM 1, Magic Stepper 2, Oceans.
RACE 4: COSMO KING, Secluded, Big Sunday.
RACE 5: MYAMIRA, Rockafellacentre, Disciple.
RACE 6: YURRAPENDI, Cadazzle, Oneworld Onedream.
RACE 7: WHO’S READY, Nissile, Gigolo Volante.
RACE 8: JUST LIKE ZAC, Zarbu, Rod’s Bid.

Sydney's leading apprentices Chad Schofield, Sam Clipperton and Adam Hyeronimus are in action at Broadmeadow tomorrow – and all three have a real chance of riding a winner or two.
With the Sydney carnival concluding at Royal Randwick, the young jockeys, not surprisingly, are in demand at this meeting.
South African-born Schofield has seven mounts and his best prospect appears to be MALABO in the MRA Benchmark 65 Handicap (900m).
MALABO, trained by Greg Bennett at Scone, is a pacy mare who has won four of her seven starts – a fine record indeed.
She hasn’t raced since winning at Muswellbrook last November, but performs fresh and is bound to be hard to beat.
Another good ride for Schofield is the Bart Cummings-trained KIM WARRIOR in the Raine and Horne Commercial Class 2 Handicap (1850m).
KIM WARRIOR has had two runs from a spell and is now ready to handle a strong 1850 metres. He was placed in a 2000m race at Randwick last November, so this is definitely within his grasp.
CLIPPERTON has five rides and the Kris Lees-trained FLYING HOPE in the Raine and Horne Commercial Maiden Plate (1300m) is his best chance.
FLYING HOPE had her first outing for Lees when a strong-finishing second at Cessnock on April 10.
She should be improved by that outing and has drawn well at the 1300m start for tomorrow’s assignment.
Hyeronimus only has the one ride – but the drive from Sydney should be worth it.
He partners last-start winner REBEL PRINCE in the Lawler Financial Services Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m).
Hyeronimus was aboard when REBEL PRINCE finished gamely to win at Hawkesbury on April 12.
The Gosford gelding is a winner on the Broadmeadow circuit and all his nine wins have been on either good or dead going. The track is currently rated a Dead 5.
Another Sydney-based jockey Mitchell Bell has bright prospects of landing a double for Rosehill trainer Chris Waller.
Bell, the current jockeys’ premiership leader at Broadmeadow, rides KASSA (MRM Engineering Maiden Handicap) and LE’ AHI (Raine and Horne Commercial Class 2 Handicap).
KASSA is first-up and had four starts in his first preparation for two thirds at Wyong and two fourths at Canterbury.
He was unlucky at his last start at Canterbury in February when held up at a vital stage and was little more than a length from the winner at the finish.
LE’AHI was second-up when a close fourth at Wyong on April 19 and is nicely drawn tomorrow.
There is one early scratching from the meeting – Race 2 No 5 (Love Excels).
My selections are:
RACE 1: FAITH IN MY 1, Shade of Green 2, Beauticanhurri 3.
RACE 2: FLYING HOPE 1, Ice Baby 2, Flirtatious Glow 3.
RACE 3: KASSA 1, Bullion 2, North Pole Dancer 3.
RACE 4: ENDLESS CHOICE 1, Aroused 2, Eight Squared 3.
RACE 5: MALABO 1, Buckmoore 2, Ballymorrough 3.
RACE 6: LE’ AHI 1, Kim Warrior 2, Amattum Zac 3.
RACE 7: DANGER LURKS 1, Grandarci 2, Uncle Phil 3.
RACE 8: REBEL PRINCE 1, Sandrio 2, Metallic Grey 3.
